City's finance committee to discuss student loan crisis

The city of Chicago's Committee on Finance will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday to discuss issues surrounding the student loan debt crisis. 

A standing committee of the Chicago City Council, the finance committee focuses on legislative matters relating to the city’s finances, workers’ compensation claims, police and fire claims, other claims against the city and other administrative matters.

Here's the meeting agenda, as provided by the city:

1. A proposed ordinance concerning the authority to amend chapter 1-23 of the municipal code of Chicago regarding the city's authority to do business with entities that use pre-dispute arbitration agreements

2. A proposed resolution calling for the public and private representatives to appear before the committee on finance to address the current issues surrounding the student loan debt crisis.
