LINCOLN PARK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Developer to Build New Menomonee Club

Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 29.

Crain’s Chicago Business reports that Structured Development has agreed to construct a new 50,000-square-foot building within its Shops at Big Deahl project at the corner of Blackhawk and Kingsbury Streets for a new recreation center to house the Menomonee Club. This frees up space for 197 new apartments on the nonprofits current site.

Menomonee Club, founded in 1946, offers everything from fencing to piano lessons. According to the article, moving to a new building was an easy decision for the Menomonee Club, which has operated at its current location since 2004.

“The nonprofit’s existing 36,000-square-foot warehouse building doesn’t have enough parking, and it’s too narrow to accommodate basketball courts more than 40 feet wide, less than the 50 feet for a full-sized court, Neal Bader said. It also doesn’t have any outdoor space.”
