Cost of college went up for all students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago

Tuition and fees rose 4 percent for 2018-19 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $49,310 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $300 less than the $49,610 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 588 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.7 million and 292 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (3,639), 2,525 students used grants or scholarships totaling $39.3 million, and 1,119 students took out $8.6 million in federal student loans.
