Ten Chicago companies have been recognized with “Manufacturing Excellence” awards by the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and World Business Chicago. The awards, announced at an event held at mHub on the Near West Side, are part of Manufacturing Month in the United States.

The companies were nominated by partners in DPD’s Local Industrial Retention Initiative (LIRI). They were selected for their achievements in areas such as longevity, resilience, innovation, community investment, and workforce development.

“The companies range from five to more than 160 years old, so they truly represent the past, present and future of Chicago manufacturing,” said DPD Commissioner Boatright. “The awards are a great way to recognize manufacturing’s importance to the local economy and Chicago’s business legacy.”

This marks the third year that the Manufacturing Excellence awards have been presented. Video profiles highlighting each company’s operations, innovations, and commitments to Chicago are available on the awards page.
