WASHINGTON, DC– On May 12, Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), issued a statement on the introduction of his two amendments to H.R. 1163, the Republicans’ “Surprise Billing our Worker’s Act.”

“I am disappointed that Republicans passed this bill which will take away income that working people received during the pandemic through no fault of their own.

“Still, I introduced two amendments to this bill to protect workers in the food service and construction industry from these Republican efforts to undermine the unemployment insurance system.

“Republicans this week did what they do best, working to take assistance away from those who need it most. I stood up against their efforts this week, and I will continue to do it!”
