Mike Koolidge, chairman of the Ogle County Republican Central Committee, said April 17 that local Republicans are working to strengthen precinct organization, increase voter turnout in November, and prepare for America 250-related activities.

He said the effort is aimed in part at mobilizing voters who have supported Republican presidential candidates in past elections but do not consistently participate in off-year contests, pointing to precinct committeemen as a key part of that outreach and organizing structure.

“There are tons of voters in Ogle County who voted reliably and proudly for President Trump three times that for whatever reason don’t vote in off-year elections like this one. We must do everything we can to remind them to vote this November. If we don’t turn out our voters, we don’t win, it’s that simple. It’s a perfect time to honor our nation’s founding ideals of liberty and self-governance right here in our community,” Koolidge said.

The Ogle County Republican Central Committee describes its mission as increasing Republican voter participation, supporting candidates aligned with party values, and keeping residents informed on local issues. Its website highlights precinct-level organizing and regular meetings as central tools for volunteer recruitment, grassroots outreach, and election support across the county, according to the committee’s official site.

Official county Republican postings also show regular meetings at the Ogle County Courthouse in Oregon, Illinois, with public notices listing gatherings on the third floor at 6:30 p.m. Agendas typically focus on volunteer coordination, precinct recruitment, and voter engagement.

Those local efforts also connect to broader national and state-level planning for America’s 250th anniversary.

Illinois America 250 describes its initiative as a statewide commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, while the national America250 program coordinates related events across the country. Illinois also maintains a list of designated “250th Communities” participating in the milestone observance.

Koolidge serves as chairman of the Ogle County Republican Central Committee. According to the organization’s website, he was first elected in 2022 and has emphasized voter turnout, party growth, and communication with local residents as key priorities during his tenure.
