Ted Dabrowski, Illinois gubernatorial candidate, said he attended a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration in Chicago, where he emphasized shared values and community during a Jan. 19 event hosted by Dr. Willie Wilson at New Zion MB Church.

“I joined Dr. Willie Wilson this morning at New Zion MB Church in Chicago for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration rooted in faith and community,” said Dabrowski, Gubernatorial Candidate. “We need to celebrate the values that unite us.”

According to Dabrowski, the program centered on faith and community, framing King’s birthday observance as a local church-based celebration. The event brought attendees together for remarks and fellowship while highlighting themes of unity and civic purpose that he said should guide Illinoisans.

The celebration occurred at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1252 S. Wolcott Ave. in Chicago. The church promotes itself as a worship community with regular services and ministries, reinforcing Dabrowski’s emphasis on faith, community connection, and shared values as part of the day’s observance.

Dr. Willie Wilson promoted the MLK birthday event at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church as a community gathering open to those who wanted to honor King’s legacy in a church setting. Wilson is known as a longtime Chicago businessman and philanthropist who frequently convenes civic and faith-centered events.

Dabrowski’s appearance aligns with his campaign’s broader approach of meeting voters in community spaces and connecting public concerns to values-based themes. His campaign organization, Ted for Illinois, positions him as a candidate focused on restoring opportunity and trust in government, underscoring a unifying message linked to community life in Illinois.
