The Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives announced that congressional candidate Melissa Conyears Ervin’s financial disclosure report lists more than $1,000 in two Charles Schwab U.S. Treasury ETFs, SCHO and SCHR.

According to the disclosure, Conyears Ervin’s report shows personal investment exposure to U.S. Treasury securities, a category typically associated with stability and federal credit backing. The disclosure was filed as part of routine compliance requirements for federal candidates seeking office, which are intended to provide voters with transparency into financial interests that could intersect with public policy decisions. The reported holdings draw attention because they place Conyears Ervin personally in U.S. government debt instruments while she campaigns for Illinois’ 7th Congressional District, making her personal investment choices part of the public record during an active election cycle.

As per the disclosure, Conyears Ervin reported investing more than $1,000 in two Charles Schwab ETFs that track U.S. Treasury securities: the Schwab Short-Term U.S. Treasury ETF (SCHO) and the Schwab Intermediate-Term U.S. Treasury ETF (SCHR). These funds are structured to hold baskets of U.S. Treasury bonds with different maturity ranges, giving investors exposure to federal debt markets rather than individual bonds. Such ETFs are commonly used by investors seeking low-volatility, government-backed instruments within diversified portfolios.

The Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives is a constitutionally mandated officer of the House, established in 1789, responsible for maintaining official records, administering the legislative process, and supporting transparency and public access to House documents.
