Malcolm X College News
Chicago's Malcolm X College recently announced that its building architects have earned a prestigious award for the redeveloped campus' "green" design.
For-profit colleges are currently surpassing most community colleges and some state universities in graduation rates and per-pupil spending in Illinois, according to statistics provided by government and educational tracking organizations.
Malcolm X Community College, 1900 W. Jackson Boulevard on Chicago’s Near West Side, spent $55.3 million during the 2014-15 school year, graduating 83 students in a graduating class of 2,775, a graduation rate of 3 percent.
While spending more than $32 million in taxpayers' money in 2014-15, Malcolm X College achieved just a 7 percent graduation rate for its two-year program -- significantly lower than any of the City Colleges of Chicago, according to the U.S. Department of Education.
