On June 29, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement on recent events in Russia:“Sixteen months since Putin launched his invasion, Ukraine remains united while Russia has never been more divided. We have now seen that the strength and power of the Russian army was merely a façade. And this past weekend revealed that Putin is not as invulnerable as we once thought.

“The cracks in Putin’s regime are widening. As they widen, the opportunities increase for Ukraine to exploit Putin’s weakness to win the battle for their homeland. However, we are still far from the end and Putin is likely angrier and more bloodthirsty than before. Amidst the chaos, the Western world must recommit to supporting Ukraine and provide them with everything they need to win.”
