Pritzker described as pale mirror image of Rauner

Springfield illinois4(1000)

Gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker would like to present himself as the Democratic mirror image of Gov. Bruce Rauner, but his reflection is far too weak, the lllinois Republican Party said recently.

“Today, J.B. Pritzker launched an ad campaign that aims to mirror Bruce Rauner’s actions as Governor,” Illinois GOP spokesperson Steven Yaffe wrote in a press release. “He's using his inherited wealth to push for an inherited agenda.”

Pritzker’s ad campaign focuses on his support for early childhood education, including his efforts to provide school breakfasts for 55,000 children. According to Yaffe, Pritzker’s work pales in comparison to Rauner's.

Yaffe sad that during his first term, Rauner has increased education funding in the state by $700 million, including $100 million that was dedicated to early childhood education. Rauner has helped 175,000 children in the state receive school breakfasts through a bill he signed last year, Yaffe said.

“If J.B. Pritzker wants to take real, impactful steps to fix our state, he should use his fortune to encourage Mike Madigan to come to the table and pass reforms," Yaffe wrote.
