CITY LIT BOOKS: The three things you need to know today: Sat, Jun 9
City Lit Books issued the following announcement on June 9.
1. Dutch electro-house producer Hardwell and instrumental duo Big Gigantic headline the second day of Spring Awakening, an EDM-focused music festival that fills Addams-Medill Park with bass drops and dancing fans. The fest runs from 1 to 10pm today and single-day tickets are available for $99.
2. The annual Chicago Tribune Printers Row Lit Fest comes to Jones College Prep High School in the Loop, welcoming New York Times writer Dave Itzkoff, author Joyce Carol Oates and an array of Midwest publishers. $2 tickets available online will guarantee you get to see most of the panels, but walk-ins are also welcome. Programming takes place from 10am to 6pm.
3. Nearly-nude riders streak through the streets of Chicago during the World Naked Bike Ride, an annual event that draws attention to cyclist rights and oil dependency. The procession kicks off at sunset (around 8:30pm) and winds through the city's major streets until 11:30pm.
