City of Chicago issued the following announcement on Oct. 11.
"Too many Americans have to choose between filling a prescription and filling the dinner table. In Chicago, we did not wait for Washington to act to address this crisis. Chicago was the first city in America to offer a discount on drugs while preventing big pharmaceutical companies from placing gag orders on pharmacists. I commend Congress for stepping up to the plate to lower the prices of prescription medication. The cost of medicine should never prevent anyone from getting the treatment they need.”
