Scores21

About 8 percent of Lindblom Math & Science Academy High School students passed annual English language arts assessments in 2018 and 92 percent of students failed, according to a Chicago City Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, is administered to third- through eighth-graders in Illinois, testing them in reading and math based on Common Core standards.

According to Lindblom Math & Science Academy High School English language scores, about 8 percent met expectations and 0.5 percent exceeded them. Students whose results are in either category are considered to be most ready to move on to the next level and are most prepared for college or work.

Another 6 percent approached expectations, while 2 percent partially met expectations and 0.5 percent did not meet them. Students who scored in these categories are not ready for the next level of schooling, according to the test.

Statewide, 37 percent of students passed the test and 63 percent failed.

Of students statewide who passed, only six percent 'exceeded' expectations.
