Lori Lightfoot leads all 14 Chicago mayoral candidates in the number of campaign donations received with 1,295 brought in between Jan 1, 2018 and Jan. 31, 2019, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.
Of those 1,295, the average amount of the donation was $1,022.
A former partner at Mayer Brown LLP, Lightfoot has held numerous government posts, including serving as an assistant U.S. Attorney, chief of staff and general counsel of the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications, first deputy of the Chicago Department of Procurement Services, and president of the Chicago Police board.
In total, her campaign committee claimed $1,324,082 in funds received between Jan. 1, 2018 and Jan. 31, 2019, none of which came from loans.
Despite bringing in the most donations, Lightfoot has not brought in the most money overall. Democrat Bill Daley tops the list of most money raised with his campaign committee reporting $5,608,014 collected, none of which were from loans. His average donation amount was $10,141.
