Uptown home prices fall in May 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in May 2017 in Uptown, a Chicago neighborhood, fell by $49,500 while total sales decreased by 1.6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

In May 2017, there were 60 homes sold, with a median sale price of $250,500 - a 16.5% decrease over the $300,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 61 homes sold in Uptown in May 2016.

The median sales tax in Uptown for 2017 was $3,204. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,078. This marks an increase of 4.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.3%.
