Former state university employee Davis Armstrong paid in $49K to pension fund, could collect $832K in retirement

Former state university employee Judy Davis Armstrong, who retired in June 2017, saved $49,465 toward a pension over 12 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Davis Armstrong would collect as much as $832,014, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Davis Armstrong received $17,488 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Davis Armstrong will have already received $54,054 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
