When a bill is introduced to the House, the clerk reads the bill title and it is automatically referred to the Rules Committee. If the Rules Committee thinks that the bill merits further consideration, it is assigned to another committee. In this case, the bill was assigned to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is a standing committee of the Illinois House of Representatives.
The bill, as it was introduced in the House by Rep. Bob Morgan (D-58) on March 28, "condemns the extreme rhetoric of Illinois Family Action, calls for a formal investigation into the group's hate speech and threats, and asks that the Secretary of State's office suspend the lobbying credentials of any individual working on behalf of Illinois Family Action or its parent organization, the Illinois Family Institute, until an investigation is complete," according to the General Assembly website.
The following house representatives also co-sponsored the bill: Jonathan Carroll (D-57), Kelly M. Cassidy (D-14), Daniel Didech (D-59), Sara Feigenholtz (D-12), Robyn Gabel (D-18), Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz (D-17), Will Guzzardi (D-39) and Yehiel M. Kalish (D-16).
The table below shows a history of actions for this bill through April 9.
