ILLINOIS STATE SENATE DISTRICT 2: COVID-19 in Illinois: News and Resources

Cdc coronavirus 1000

Illinois State Senate District 2 issued the following announcement on March 23.

Dear friends,

We no longer live "as usual" - the coronavirus has disrupted many of our jobs, social lives, and daily routines. It may seem frustrating, but for now, the most important thing is to stay home as much as possible. According to health leaders and experts, social distancing can help reduce the spread of the virus, protect our most vulnerable citizens, and reduce pressure on our health system.

Since the first cases of coronavirus were diagnosed in Illinois, Governor Pritzker has offered daily updates on some of the measures that ensure minimizing the spread of the virus. The Governor launched a website with the most important information in one place: coronavirus.illinois.gov. As always, the Illinois Department of Public Health will continue to provide updates on the status of the epidemic.

Remember: contagion does not discriminate. Regardless of your health or age, it is vital that you take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. For the sake of the health and safety of everyone in our communities, we must all do our part to help contain the virus.

Although we practice social distancing, we must remain united. Call, text, or email friends and family, particularly seniors and immunocompromised individuals, who can especially feel isolated and fearful during these difficult times. Staying in touch can save a life.

Sincerely,

Omar Aquino

State Senator / 2nd District
