City of Wheaton Fine and Cultural Arts Commission met Sept. 29.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

I. Call to Order

President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m.. Those present: Sarah Antas, Tony Asta, Mike Bock, Laurie Swanson Oberhelman Absentees: Dee Hicks, Kathy Young

Public Attendees: David Duve

II. Agenda Items

Mike Bock moved and Tony Asta seconded the approval of the agenda. Tona Asta added Day of the Dead to the old business agenda. Motion carried. September 22nd minutes approval was postponed until the next meeting as we didn’t have time to review.

III. Agenda Item: Wheaton: Love where you Live

Laurie Swanson updated the commission. Twenty eight artists are now involved and painting is under way. We will likely have 30 total involved by the end of the project. We also need to consider a thank you communication to the artists at the end of the project.

IV. Agenda Item: Cultural Fair

Tony Asta updated the commission that the Cultural Fair is cancelled for this year. Planning on running it again in 2021.

V. Agenda Item: Day of the Dead

Tony Asta updated the commission that the Immigrant Solidarity DuPage will be running a virtual Day of the Dead ceremony at the Gary United Methodist Church on November 1st. Discussion on providing some financial support. Laurie Swanson moved that we donate $500 in support of the program. Sarah Antes seconded. Motion passed.

VI. Adjournment

Mike Bock moved and Sarah Antes seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 5:20. passed. Next meeting scheduled for October 27th at 6:00 p.m.
