City of Wheaton Fine and Cultural Arts Commission Met October‌ ‌27

City of Wheaton Fine and Cultural Arts Commission met Oct. 27.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

I. Call to Order

President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 6:09 p.m.

II. Roll Call

Those present: Sarah Antas, Tony Asta, Mike Bock, Dave Duve, Dee Hicks, Laurie Swanson Oberhelman, and Kathy Young.

III. Approval of agenda

Mike Bock moved and Tony Asta seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion carried

IV. Public Comments None

V. Approval of Minutes

Tony Asta moved and Laurie Swanson Oberhelman seconded the approval of September 29 minutes. Motion carried. Mike Bock will forward these minutes to Sharon Barrett-Hagen.

VI. New Business

. Privately sponsored art show weekend of October 16.

 . Laurie Swanson Oberhelman will contact Elle at DWA for information about sponsorship, and how we can coordinate efforts in the future.

. Day of the Dead. Project has been cancelled due to Covid. Our $500 donation has been discarded.

. List future projects. All commissioners will submit a list of possible projects. The following are up for discussion: Sing Along for the Season, Live tour of artistic interests,fire hydrant painting, monthly event, i.e. art of bee keeping, pottery building, sculpturing, water color painting, locks and/or frames throughtout city. Swedish Sister City culture, food tasting.

VII Old Business

. Window Painting. DWA is sending out checks this week to the artists. The project was a huge success. Laurie Swanson Oberhelman sent thank you letters to all artists and will have a “post mortem” with Ellen to assure even better results.

. Welcome to Dave Duve as our newest Commissioner.

VIII Adjournment

. Laurie Swanson Oberhelman moved and Dave Duve seconded the adjournment at 7:11.
