The Chicago Hounds faced a narrow defeat against Old Glory DC in their recent Major League Rugby match, losing 22-21. The loss came after a series of penalties hindered the Hounds' performance, leaving them with a record of 5-4-1 for the season. The team is now preparing to face the Houston Sabercats, who currently hold the top position in the Western Conference.

Old Glory DC started strong with an early try by hooker Facundo Gattas within the first five minutes. This was followed by a successful conversion from flyhalf Gradyn Bowd, giving DC an initial 7-0 lead.

Chicago responded in the 26th minute when outside center Bryce Campbell scored his first try of the season after receiving a pass at the base of a ruck and breaking through two defenders to reach the endzone. Adriaan Carelse's conversion tied the score.

Shortly thereafter, Bowd added another penalty kick for Old Glory, but Chicago's Cassh Maluia scored his first career try in the 36th minute following a set piece move involving right wing Mark O’Keeffe. Carelse’s conversion brought Chicago ahead 14-10.

As halftime approached, Bowd kicked another penalty goal, narrowing Chicago's lead to one point at 14-13.

In the second half, repeated penalties against Chicago allowed Bowd and replacement flyhalf Jason Robertson to extend Old Glory's lead through successful penalty kicks. By minute 53, Old Glory had increased their advantage to 22-14 with three additional penalties.

Despite their challenges, Chicago managed to secure a losing bonus point with an 80th-minute try by O’Keeffe. Carelse’s final conversion left them just one point shy at 22-21.
