UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, featuring former De La Salle High School star Chase Hoover, were narrowly defeated 5-4 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the UC Davis Aggies on Saturday, March 14, at 6 p.m.
Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium served as the venue for the contest, marking the teams’ second meeting of the season. The previous game on Friday, March 13, ended with the Gauchos defeating the Aggies 4-0.
Pitching for the Gauchos, Hoover surrendered one earned run in 2.1 innings, notching one walk and three strikeouts.
UC Santa Barbara is set to play its next game against the UC Davis Aggies on Sunday, March 15, at 1 p.m., again at Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium.
