The UI Health South Loop Physicians Group (SLPG) will expand its services and facilities starting March 2. The clinic, located at 2600 S. Michigan Ave, is adding specialty care in Allergy, Cardiology, Oncology, Pulmonary, and Rheumatology. Additional specialties such as Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, and Nephrology are expected to be introduced soon.

As part of the expansion, a renovated second floor will be opened to create a two-level primary and specialty care center. This new space includes six exam rooms, a triage room, lab space, and a larger waiting area for patients and their families.

“Expanding this clinical site allows us to better serve patients across Chicago by combining comprehensive primary care and specialty services in one location,” said Dr. Rachel Caskey, head of the Department of Medicine at UI Health.

These upgrades are aimed at reducing wait times and increasing appointment availability while supporting the department’s mission to provide comprehensive care throughout Chicago. The expanded clinical offerings seek to address rising patient demand and improve access to specialized services within the community. By investing in additional space and medical specialties, UI Health intends to strengthen its position as an academic health system that provides accessible care across Illinois.

The South Loop location currently focuses on primary care services with specific models for maternal health and adults living with disabilities.

UI Health is part of the University of Illinois Hospital Chicago system. The hospital system has over 450 beds and more than 30 outpatient clinics along with several community health centers serving diverse neighborhoods (official website). It operates as the clinical component of the University of Illinois Chicago and prioritizes health equity through education, research, community outreach programs (official website), and patient-centered innovation (official website). The hospital has also been recognized for excellence in nursing practices (official website).
