The city of Chicago has named Alicia Tate-Nadeau as executive director of the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications.
In her new position, Tate-Nadeau will oversee the city’s 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 call centers, emergency preparedness, planning and public safety efforts.
Tate-Nadeau previously worked as an assistant adjutant general for the Illinois National Guard, where she planned, coordinated and conducted emergency management exercises with international partners. While in Israel, she helped oversee the first-ever exercise between the United States, Israel and Germany regarding Search and Rescue operations in urban areas.
“As executive director, Alicia Tate-Nadeau’s leadership and expertise provides a platform for the critical role of the coordination of efforts in keeping our city safe on a daily basis," Mayor Rahm Emanuel said. "Whether it's responding to severe weather, planning for the many city major events or coordinating the city's agencies in response to emergency situations.”
