Commission on Chicago Landmarks met October 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks held its regularly scheduled meeting on October 5, 2017. The meeting was held at City Hall, 121 North LaSalle Street, Room 201-A, Chicago, Illinois. The meeting began at 12:50 p.m.

David Reifman, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Planning and

Development

Richard Tolliver

Ernest Wong

Absent:

Vice Chairman Houlihan called the meeting to order.

1. Approval of the Minutes of Previous Meeting

Regular Meeting of September 7, 2017

Motioned by Wong, seconded by Tolliver. Approved unanimously (6-0).

2. Final Landmark Recommendation

Johnson Publishing Company Building Ward 4

820 South Michigan Avenue

Matt Crawford presented the staff report. Vote to adopt final landmark recommendation to City Council for the Johnson Publishing Company Building.

Motioned by Tolliver, seconded by Rossi. Approved unanimously (6-0).

3. Preliminary Landmark Recommendation

Commissioner Wong left the meeting.

Old Chicago Main Post Office Building Ward 25

401-439 West Van Buren Street, 401-535 South Canal Street, and 400-436 West Harrison Street

Matt Crawford presented the report. Motion to adopt the preliminary landmark recommendation for the Old Chicago Main Post Office Building.

Motioned by Tolliver, seconded by Dziekiewicz. Approved 5-0 with one Commission member recusing himself.

4. Class L Property Tax Incentive - Application

Old Chicago Main Post Office Building Ward 25

401-439 West Van Buren Street, 401-535 South Canal Street, and 400-436 West Harrison Street

Dijana Cuvalo presented the report. Vote to approve the recommendation to City Council for the Class L Property Tax Incentive for the Old Chicago Main Post Office Building.

Motioned by Rossi, seconded by Tolliver. Approved 5-0 with one Commission member recusing himself.

5. Report from the Department of Planning and Development

Commissioner Wong returned to the meeting.

Logan Square Boulevards District Extension Ward 32

Episcopal Church of the Advent and Parish House

2900 West Logan Boulevard

David Reifman presented the report. Vote to accept the DPD report and take the next step in the designation process for the Logan Square Boulevards District Extension/Episcopal Church of the Advent and Parish House to request consent from the property owners.

Motioned by Rossi, seconded by Wong. Approved unanimously (6-0).

6. Permit Review Committee Reports

Commissioner Reifman left the meeting.

Commissioner Wong presented the report from the Permit Review Committee meeting of September 7, 2017 (see attached).

Report on Permit Decisions by the Commission Staff for the month of September 2017

Cynthia Roubik presented the staff report for the month of September 2017 (see attached).

7. Program Committee Report

Commissioner Tolliver presented the report.

8. Announcement
