A new year means new roles for seven professors at the John Marshall Law School.

The promotions bring some of the faculty members from the classroom to the administrative side, according to a press release from the school. Some will continue teaching in addition to their new positions.

Four professors were named as deans: Julie Spanbauer, was named vice dean for academic affairs; Marc Ginsberg, associate dean for graduate and center programs; Ardath Hamann, associate dean for faculty development; and Samuel Jones, associate dean for SCALES, an alternative admission program, and Inclusive Excellence, the release said.

Spanbauer, who joined the university in 1990, will continue teaching while overseeing the academic services and financial aid units. Ginsberg will supervise units concerned with intellectual property, international law and real estate and taxation. Hamann is charged with training adjunct faculty, and Jones will work to prepare a diverse student body to enter the legal profession.

Two other professors are now directors: Hugh Mundy was named director of the Center for Advocacy & Dispute Resolution, and Joanne Hodge was named director of the Moot Court Honors Board, the release said.  Additionally, Susan Brody was named as faculty liaison for alumni engagement.

Mundy, with the university for six years, will supervise the trial advocacy and alternative dispute competition teams, while teaching classes in evidence and criminal law. Hodge will recruit and oversee the moot court teams while teaching disability and employment law, contracts, appeals and dispute resolution. Brody, who has been on the faculty since 1982, will engage university alumni interested in giving back to the university.
