IL State Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 30.
“The Illinois Chamber of Commerce believes the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s (IEPA) draft Beneficiary Mitigation Plan (BMP) is the right direction and applauds the IEPA for their unprecedented period for public comments.
It is important we move forward with implementing this plan as soon as possible and calls to change it substantially are delaying much needed investments in our communities and our environment. This plan strikes the right balance between investing in new transportation infrastructure, including charging stations, and Illinois’ heavy industry. This is a chance to maximize economic growth and a unique opportunity to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) even further.
This plan provides Illinois the biggest bang for our buck and should move forward as drafted. Any further efforts to delay implementation for a political punch are simply irresponsible.”
