IL State Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 3.
Business and civil rights groups are lining up on different sides of an anti-discrimination bill that is posing a bit of a political test for Gov. Bruce Rauner.
At issue is whether Rauner by the mid-August deadline will sign, veto or amend a bill that would remove an existing exemption for small business in the state’s Human Rights Act. The measure would apply the ban on bias due to race, age and sexual orientation to all companies, even if they have just one employee. Existing law applies only to firms with at least 15 paid workers.
