South Loop home prices rise in the fourth quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the fourth quarter of 2017 in South Loop, a Chicago neighborhood, rose by $6,000 while total sales increased by 6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From October through December of 2017, there were 195 homes sold, with a median sale price of $330,000 - a 1.9% increase over the $324,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 184 homes sold in South Loop in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in South Loop for 2017 was $3,990.71. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,786.20. This marks an increase of 5.4%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.2%.
