West Town home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in West Town, a Chicago neighborhood, rose by $45,000 while total sales decreased by 2.7%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 429 homes sold, with a median sale price of $475,000 - a 10.5% increase over the $430,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 441 homes sold in West Town in 2016.

The median sales tax in West Town for 2017 was $6,788. In 2016, the median sales tax was $6,452. This marks an increase of 5.2%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.4%.
