Former state university employee Dukes McCormick paid in $158K to pension fund, could collect $3.95M in retirement

Former state university employee Delania Dukes McCormick, who retired in March 2018, saved $157,785 toward a pension over 30 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Dukes McCormick would collect as much as $3.95 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Dukes McCormick received $83,003 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Dukes McCormick will have already received $168,496 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
