Former state university employee Kuziel Perri paid in $9K to pension fund, could collect $272K in retirement

Former state university employee Phyllis Kuziel Perri, who retired in July 2017, saved $8,500 toward a pension over 5 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Kuziel Perri would collect as much as $272,321, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Kuziel Perri received $5,724 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Kuziel Perri will have already received $11,620 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
