Former state university employee Uit Den Bogaard paid in $31K to pension fund, could collect $995K in retirement

Former state university employee Barbara Uit Den Bogaard, who retired in April 2016, saved $30,557 toward a pension over 6 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Uit Den Bogaard would collect as much as $995,355, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Uit Den Bogaard received $20,921 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Uit Den Bogaard will have already received $42,470 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
