Former state university employee Stalter paid in $66K to pension fund, could collect $976K in retirement

Former state university employee Lori Stalter, who retired in December 2018, saved $65,979 toward a pension over 21 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Stalter would collect as much as $976,247, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Stalter received $20,520 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Stalter will have already received $85,849 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
