Former state university employee Fuller paid in $48K to pension fund, could collect $677K in retirement

Former state university employee Sandra Fuller, who retired in October 2016, saved $47,731 toward a pension over 17 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Fuller would collect as much as $677,407, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Fuller received $14,238 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Fuller will have already received $59,566 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
