Former state university employee Schneider Criezis paid in $54K to pension fund, could collect $750K in retirement

Former state university employee Susan Schneider Criezis, who retired in March 2017, saved $53,544 toward a pension over 4 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Schneider Criezis would collect as much as $749,598, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Schneider Criezis received $15,756 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Schneider Criezis will have already received $65,918 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
