City of Wheaton Local Liquor Control Commission met Oct. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL VOTE

Chair Taylor called the October 10, 2019 meeting of the Local Liquor Control Commission meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers of the Wheaton City Hall, 303 West Wesley Street.

Upon roll call, the following were present: Commissioner Pearse, Commissioner Sender, Chair Taylor and Commissioner Wolgemuth. Absent: Commissioner Brown. City Staff Present: James P. Kozik, Director of Planning and Economic Development.

II. PUBLIC COMMENT

Chair Taylor recognized several students from Wheaton North High School in attendance and had them introduce themselves.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – September 12, 2019

Commissioner Pearse moved and Commissioner Wolgemuth seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the September 12, 2019 Local Liquor Control Commission meeting as submitted. On a voice vote, all voted aye.

IV. NEW BUSINESS

APPLICATION FOR CLASS S LIQUOR LICENSE - 7 ELEVEN, INC. - 326 W. LIBERTY DRIVE

Mr. Jeff Damaldge, representing 7 Eleven Inc. was in attendance to present an application for a Class S Liquor License for their store located at 326 W. Liberty Drive. Mr. Damaldge stated that 7-Eleven Inc. is purchasing the store from the current franchisee who is retiring.

Mr. Damaldge stated that 7-Eleven Inc. has stated that they seek to continue to operate the business with no significant planned changes that would impact operations or the sale of alcoholic beverages.

In response to a question regarding the liquor sales, Mr. Damaldge stated that a manager from 7 Eleven is dedicated to a single store and that 7 Eleven “Mystery Shoppers” visit once a month to test compliance.

Hearing no further questions or comments, Commissioner Sender moved and Commissioner Pearse seconded a motion to recommend that a Class S Liquor License be issued to 7 Eleven Inc. On a roll call vote, all vote aye.

V. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS There was no miscellaneous business.

VI. ADJOURNMENT

The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 P.M.
