Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board met March 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Jill Wedig called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM. A Roll Call was taken by Deputy Clerk, Heather Riley:

MEMBERS: DINA BRANDT PRESENT           JUDY PRISBY PRESENT

Others Present: Village President Jim E. Claeyssen, Trustee David Schroeder, and Deputy Clerk Heather Riley

ADOPT THE AGENDA: Judy Prisby moved to adopt the agenda. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES: Dina Brandt moved to approve the minutes from the January 8, 2020 Meeting with one addition:

• Add “will be sponsored by the Cherry Valley Men’s Club” to the bounce night event. Judy Prisby seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: David Schroeder.

• Trustee Schroeder stated that Suzanne, the Manager of Schnucks reached out and stated that if the recreation board ever needs volunteers that her and her staff would like to help out.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Bounce Night – The committee suggested using Public Works portable electronic sign to advertise Bounce Night the Friday before the event by placing the sign outside of the Cherry Valley Elementary Schools property. See Report attached for the details of the event.

2. Adult Fun Bowl (18+) - See Report attached.

3. Skate Night – Most attendees stated that they heard about the event via the Recreation Boards Facebook page. See report attached for details of the event.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Easter Candy Scramble (April 11, 2020) – Jill Wedig reported that Mr. and Mrs. Laye are unavailable to be the Easter bunnies this year. Jill Wedig informed the committee that she does have a backup but they will only volunteer if they are kept anonymous. Dina Brandt moved to request $1100.00 for the Easter Candy Scramble event. Judy Prisby seconded. Motion carried by voice vote. Jill Wedig will pick up the candy for the candy scramble. Age groups are as followed: Ages 0 – 2, Ages 3 – 5, Ages 6 – 8, Ages 9 – 12, each age group gets two large boxes of candy that is tossed out for them to pick up. Jill Wedig will get a $30.00 gift card for Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny.

2. Movie Night (June 20, 2020) – Trustee Schroder looked up the top five best outdoor movies which were: Moana, The Princess Bride, The Lego Movie, E.T, and distributed a blind vote to the committee, Moana, The Lego Movie, and E.T tied. With Indiana Jones coming in second as a write in. Deputy Clerk Heather Riley was instructed to pick whichever was available from the three movies that had the most votes.

3. Street Dance (July 25, 2020) – Scott Kramer instructed Village President Jim Claeyssen to contact Prime Time Live and book them for whatever Saturday they were available in the month of July. Kerry Schaible stated that Prime Time Live was available on July 25, 2020, so Village President Jim Claeyssen booked that day. This contract has to go the Village Board for approval of their contract.

4. Budget Review - the Recreation Board reviewed their budget with Trustee Schroeder and Village President Jim Claeyssen and submitted for approval (see the attachment).

ADJOURNMENT: Dan Jarocki entertained a motion to adjourn at 7:46 PM. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.
