Graduates earn 53 degrees from American Academy of Art

About 84.9 percent of the 53 degrees and certificates handed out by American Academy of Art in 2017-18 were to students in visual and performing arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Chicago conferred 45 bachelor's degrees in visual and performing arts programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in painting. Data shows the school gave out 17 bachelor's degrees in painting, followed by 17 bachelor's degrees in illustration and 7 bachelor's degrees in animation, interactive technology, video graphics and special effects.

The academy enrolled 242 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
