Graduates earn 1,005 degrees, certificates from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago

About 87.2 percent of the 1,005 degrees and certificates handed out by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2017-18 were to students in visual and performing arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Chicago conferred 587 bachelor's degrees and 248 master's degrees in visual and performing arts programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in general fine/studio arts. Data shows the school gave out 570 bachelor's degrees in general fine/studio arts, followed by 173 master's degrees in general fine/studio arts and 37 master's degrees in creative writing.

The school enrolled 3,639 students for 2017-18, including 2,893 in undergraduate programs and 746 in graduate programs.
