7 percent of applicants to the University of Chicago were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Chicago, 100 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 51 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Chicago enrolled 17,002 students in fall 2018, including 6,632 in undergraduate and 10,370 in graduate programs, data shows. 0.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

12 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 71 percent are residents of other states. 17 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (39 percent) and Asian (19 percent).

The school admitted 7 percent of the 32,283 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 77 percent enrolled.
