Cost of college went up for all students at Columbia College Chicago

Tuition and fees rose 2.7 percent for 2018-19 at Columbia College Chicago, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $27,176 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $702 more than the $26,474 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 89 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,221 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13.8 million and 955 students took out student loans totaling more than $7.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (6,825), 5,221 students used grants or scholarships totaling $52.3 million, and 4,661 students took out $31.9 million in federal student loans.
