Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.1 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $15,094 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $20 more than the $15,074 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 109.8 percent more than residents this year, or $31,664. Their price tag grew 1.5 percent from $31,194 in 2017-18.

About 76 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. About 10 percent are residents of other states and 12 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 62 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 3,651 students received grants or scholarships totaling $52.3 million and 2,973 students took out student loans totaling more than $20.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (49,702), 17,564 students used grants or scholarships totaling $240.4 million, and 11,849 students took out $68 million in federal student loans.
