Chicago FD responds to 10580 fires in 2018

Chicago Fire District responded to 33615 calls in 2018 - 1.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Chicago included 10580 fires - 5508 structure fires, 1880 vehicle fires and 3192 other fires. The fire department also responded to 119 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $44,911,747 in fire loss - or about $4,245 per fire.

The department also received 22916 false calls, including 1271 malicious calls and 21645 other false calls.

The calls resulted in 143 civilian fire-related injuries and 36 civilian fire-related deaths. Additionally, 118 fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents, 66 were injured in non fire-related incidents and one fire service member died in non-fire incidents.

The Chicago Fire District had an annual budget of $11,124,525 in 2018.
