Krupa glad to see Brady go as Senate Republican Leader

David Krupa isn’t shy about expressing his joy over seeing Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady go.

“Bill Brady was a weak leader and his resignation is proof that he had no intention of serving the people of Illinois, only himself” Krupa said. I’m glad he’s gone, the Illinois GOP needs a regime change.”

Serving as GOP senate leader since 2017, Brady gave no reason for his decision, which came after republicans tabbed Sen. Dan McConchie to take over for him as senate leader. Following November’s showing where republicans lost the district vacated by GOP Sen. Jim Oberweis, the heat on Brady had come under increased scrutiny. The veteran lawmaker is also walking away from his state senate post in the 44th District, opening the door for local party leaders to decide who will replace him for his term that ends January 2023.

Krupa insists he saw it all coming.

“Once he was replaced by McConchie as the minority leader, he had no reason to be there,” he said.

Krupa sounded a similar tone back in December when he applauded the Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider stepping down after nearly seven years in power.

“I’m not sad to see him go,” Krupa told Chicago City Wire. “In fact, I’m elated. It’s probably the best thing that could happen to the Republican Party and the state of Illinois. I think Tim Schneider has proven himself incapable of being chairman and under his leadership the party has become as weak as ever.”

Krupa added he looks forward to the day of having a GOP leader willing to stand up to longtime House Speaker Mike Madigan and what he sees as his business as usual way of doing things.

“People like Schneider have refused to take on the machine at every turn,” he said. “I want to see a chairman that’s willing to stand up for what we believe in.”
