An Elmhurst shop owner has said he has chosen to ban voters of President-elect Joe Biden from his shop.
Elmhurst Cigar House Owner Shaun Thompson said he chose to do this because he wasn’t a fan of what the Biden administration stands for.
Radio hosts Amy Jacobson and Dan Proft spoke with Thompson about a sign he put up banning Biden supporters. They said last week Thompson put the sign out in front of his store and it has stirred up much controversy.
“I get a lot of hate for this store, but that’s only a small fraction of the love I’ve gotten from across the country,” Thompson said on Chicago’s Morning Answer.
Thompson said other professionals and some politicians have given him grief over the sign. Thompson said some politicians and business owners that he knows personally now feel intimidated because of the blowback he’s received and they’re nervous to come in the store.
“What you’re seeing is intimidation by a mob of social engineers … on a little tiny store,” Thompson said.
Thompson said he has heard that people want to shut down his business now.
“You can have ‘No shoes, no shirt, no service,’ but I can’t have a no Marxist requirement?” Thompson said.
Thompson said the Elmhurst Police have been great and have stayed outside of his shop to make sure nothing bad happens.
“I will not take the sign down under any circumstances,” Thompson said.
Thompson said he refuses to live under Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s tyranny and he was about to sell the shop and leave, but the sign killed the deals.
“This has never been a Trump issue, this is an American principle issue,” Thompson said. “And what the Joe Biden administration, what the supporters represent are the American fascists, American Marxists and American Nazis.”
Thompson said he’s going to start doing monthly memberships, he’s selling T-shirts and mugs. The merchandise all says, “Biden Voters Keep Out.”
