City of Wheaton Housing Commission Met Aug. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

I. Call to Order  

The regular meeting of the Wheaton Housing Commission was Housing Commission Chair Kristine Eisenmann called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

II. Public Comment 

None 

III. Approval of Minutes 

Commissioner Rybinski moved, and Commissioner Johnson seconded, a motion to accept the minutes of the January 14, 2021 meeting. The motion was unanimously approved by a voice vote. 

IV. New Business 

2020 Housing Assistance Summary 

2021 Application Summary 

- 7 recipients moved into assisted living, out of Wheaton, or moved in with family. Currently  enrollment is at 43. 

-No Changes to be made to the interview form 

Return to In House Visits 

- Commissioners may elect to meet with their candidates in person. This must be agreed upon by both the Commissioner and the Senior Applicant. 

Approval of CY 2022 – Proposed Income Cap & Monthly Stipend Amounts 

-Group proposed to increase income amount to $27,800. 

-Commissioner Johnson moved and Commissioner Rybinski seconded a motion to approve the increase in income amount for the CY 2022. The motion was unanimously approved by a voice vote.

Housing Assistance Program Advertising: 

Group discussed where the program will be advertised. The program will be advertised in the Wheaton Weekly, Wheaton Newsletter, August water bills, Facebook & SALT newsletter. 

CY2022 Budget Increase: 

Group discussed asking the City for additional funds totaling $3,000.00 which will provide an increase to owners and renters. Owners will receive $225 per month and rental applicants $205.Commissioner Johnson moved and Commissioner Mennecke seconded a motion to approve the request of $3,000 in additional funds from the City. 

Election of Officers: 

The group chose officers for CY2022. Commissioner Eisenmann volunteered to remain on as Chairman and Commissioner Johnson volunteered to remain on as the Vice Chair. The Secretary position remains vacant. Commissioner Mennecke moved and Commissioner Rybinski 2nd a motion to approve the elected officers for the CY2022. 

V. Adjournment 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 pm 

The next regular meeting of this commission will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021.
