A Chicago woman who live-streamed herself looting on The Magnificent Mile last summer was released from prison the same day she arrived.

According to CWB Chicago, Taeshia Rochon, 23, uploaded footage of herself looting merchandise from Magnificent Mile stores to Facebook during a mass looting incident on Aug. 10, 2020. Viewers positively identified her from her videos and she turned herself in to authorities after being contacted by police.

For her crimes, Rochon was sentenced to two concurrent 17-month sentences for looting by an individual.

CBS2 Chicago noted that at the time of her arrest, Rochon was given a $4,000 D Bond, meaning she had to post $400 to be released pre-trial, and that she was required to wear electronic monitoring.

The state's standard 50% sentence reduction and her 445 days on electronic monitoring meant that she had a significant amount of time taken off her sentence when she arrived at Logan Correctional Center on Nov. 5. She was released the same day and will be on parole until Nov. 5, 2022.

Following her arrest and during her pre-trial period, Rochon opened a Go Fund Me account, asking for $350,000 to help pay for her legal fees, according to Chicago City Wire.

"I was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of looting," Rochon said in the Go Fund Me post, according to Chicago City Wire. "I need help I am too pretty to be in jail if I can’t pay my fine that’s where I would be. Why u think I went looting, cause (I don’t) have s****."

Go Fund Me didn't respond to inquiries from the Chicago City Wire on whether Roshon had violated Go Fund Me's terms of service that bars fundraising involving 'violation of any laws.'

Rochon had no previous criminal record before her arrest.
