Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board met March 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Chairman Jill Wedig called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM. A Roll Call was taken by Deputy Village Clerk, Heather Riley:

Others Present: Village Administrator Jim E. Claeyssen, Village President David Schroeder, and Deputy Village Clerk Heather Riley.

ADOPT THE AGENDA: Jill Wedig moved to adopt the agenda with the following addition:

• Add item # 4 Ice Skating under

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Tori Schroeder seconded. All “Aye;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES: Jill Wedig moved to approve the minutes from the January 5, 2022 meeting. Judy Prisby seconded. All “Aye;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Easter Candy Scramble (April 16, 2022) – David and Beth Schroeder will be Mr. & Mrs. Cottontail this year. The bunnies will arrive at 1:30 and the candy scramble will begin at 2:00 PM. Jill is price checking candy and will let the committee members know what she decides to get via email.

2. Fun Run/Walk at Baumann Park (May 21, 2022) – Lengthy discussion was had regarding the details of this event and how the committee would like to see it grow. Jill Wedig stated that the lady that does the shirts for her will do them at $5.50 a shirt but suggests that the committee charges $10.00 a shirt and donate the proceeds to the cause of the committee’s choice. Tori Schroeder stated that she created a google doc for people to sign up for this event. T-shirts will be paid for at registration day of. The Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9:00 AM with sign in at 8:30 AM. Tori will have a map for people who are interested in doing a 5K as well as a route for people who just want to walk and enjoy the time outside at Baumann Park. Tori stated that her goal for this event is community engagement. When promoting this event, it will be clear that this is not for experienced runners, this is for people who want to get out and move. The Cherry Valley Men’s Club would like to potentially participate during this event by handing out oranges or water but will discuss it at their next meeting and let the recreation board know.

3. Cruise & Cream – Tabled till Aprils meeting when Jill Wedig can get an update from Cattle and Cream.

4. Ice Skating – The suggestion for next year is to hold this event on a Sunday afternoon the week after the Superbowl as it has been very chilly during the evening the last two years at Doty Park. Between 25 – 30 people participated.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Street Dance – Jill Wedig moved to hire No Dice for the Street Dance July 16, 2022. Tori Schroeder seconded. All “Aye;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

2. Movie Night – The committee has decided to remove this event since the library will be doing another movie night event for the summer and use this line item to go towards the Fun Run/Walk.

3. Budget Review – The committee decided to leave their budget amounts the same as the 2021-2022 FY and switch out the following events:

• Movie Night replaced with Fun Run/Walk

• Bowling replaced with Cruise & Cream

• Add Roller Skating to the list of events held with a budget of $400.00 A copy of the proposed budget is attached.

ADJOURNMENT: Pat Stegemann moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:06 PM. Tori Schroeder seconded. All “Aye;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.
